9.  Go to a Drive-in Movie

Sure, it isn’t IMAX, but it sure is nostalgic.  Besides, you can talk to each other during the movie without someone throwing popcorn at you.

 10.  Take a romantic walk at a local park or botanical garden

Take a romantic stroll through the beautiful scenery.  You can also bring along that picnic basket.  There is no reason you can’t mix and match here.

11.  Go to a local farmer’s market

13.  Go to estate/content sales

If you want to do something that takes up a few hours check out local estate/content sales.  Estate sales are a way of selling the contents of a home.  They usually offer more than garage sales. People sell furniture, art, clothes, cutlery, anything from their homes.  Sometimes the entire contents of the home are for sale.

You can get notified online of upcoming sales in your neighborhood and check out what they have to offer.  They can be a fun way to spend an afternoon.   My personal favorite is going to estate sales in high-end homes.  Sometimes, you can buy something for a really good price, or you can just daydream and people watch.

You don’t have to buy anything, but, if you do see something that catches your eye, you can usually bargain with them.

14. Museums, Galleries or Historic Centres

Many people don’t know that these places often offer free admission on specific days of the week or month.

15. Go for a walk downtown and watch the Buskers

If you are close to a big city, you are sure to have some buskers hanging around.  Go for a romantic walk downtown and take in some street entertainment.

My husband and I are always trying to find a frugal date. I’ve even created a date jar with tons of ideas. Funny because we have used it maybe twice in the past three years. Ha! Excellent post and ideas.

We actually go on a picnic with packed food on day trips too! Food plus traveling is a bit expensive and saving on that helps to travel more.
